Longevity of roofs under rooftop decks
What is the best practice (gluedown, etc.) and materials (EPDM, etc.) and service life expectancy of a rooftop deck and roof under, when something like this is desired? The pic shows a “deck tile” product that is ipe slats fastened to a waffled polymer substrate.

gene,
if you can find someone to do a TPO membrane, that would be the nuts. heat welded seams. fantastic product. the good commercial roofers do it.
if you can't get that, then 060 reinforced EPDM is probably the next best thing.
do NOT let anyone talk you into recovery board over your plywood deck. it is too soft as a deck membrane underlayment.
the membrane will definitely be fully adhered. it can be applied directly over the plywood deck but only if it is screwed, not nailed.
our roofer has been working with GP's Dens Deck as underlayment over the plywood with great success.
as far as lifespan of the install ? that has more to do with the quality of the install than the life of the membrane. anywhere from 10-25 years.
is this the product ?

TPO is not the "nuts". The welds on TPO tend to seperate after only a few years. The best heat welded seam roof is duro-last pvc membrane. Puts TPO to shame.
Fiberglas IS the nuts! ;o)Jeff
As a roof, the 60 EPDM can last forty years.
The variables are in the wear and tear of traffic and the quality of the installation.

Our roof deck (150 SF) is Kemper cold fluid applied polyester resin membbrane http://www.kempersystem.net/membranes/kemperol_v210.html topped with 3M quartz granules. Warranted for 20 years and will last a lot longer. Over living space (kitchen) with 8" of closed cell foam insulation - R50 + (unvented by the way and doing just fine).
