looking for a remote type light switch
i’m trying to rig up something to turn my compressor on and off from my shop, the compressor sits in another building 50′ away. so i’m going thru 2 walls and 50′ of air.
anyone have suggestions on a manf that makes a switch with a remote that will get out that far?load on this is minamal,it will be turning on a 24v transformer, thats it.
i have a heathe /zenith and it just won’t make it,thinking about running the ant wire thru the siding and see if that would work……..
if a man speaks in the forest, and there’s not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?

I hope that makes the magazine.

When I got my 240 volt dust collector, I bought the remote X-10 switch along with it.
Simple: hook up the compressor's transformer to a pull chain socket attached to 120 volt line'
Then ,add a loooong pull cord.
I bought a remote switch for my shop dust collection system and its RF-based, not IR. It transmits at least 50 feet in my home. By accident I've been known to turn it on 2 floors away at the other end of the house. The switch came from Rockler Woodworking, its yellow and easily handles the 15 amp 120VAC circuit.
Use one of these and you can control your light switches from my house.

If that is too remote for you pick one of these.

There's no specs on the web page about how far away it will work, but I'm sure I've read tests in the mags where they reported testing at 100 ft or more.
Available for 110v or 220v.

Hard Wire it. Too much interference flying through dem airwaves and whatnot. Rig up a little phone cable RJ-11? to a relay and you are off to the dust races.
