Hey All,
Been awhile. Just wondering if any one out there could have so wisdom for me. I’ve closed in a small 412 sq. great room with 7 windows and french doors. The floor will prpobly be mahogany. Anyway, the owner realing wants me to try and match the window and door casing on the inside to match the excisting 100 = YEAR OLD HOUSE.. I comfident of milling it matching the profiles and even finishing it. IT’S LIKE 6 ‘ with a backband that I’M SURE IS extinct. ANY ideas were I COULD FIND RECLAIMED CHESTNUT WITHOUT BLOWING MY BUDGET COMPLETELY. Sorry about the caps. IT’S BEEN A LONG NIGHT. tHANKS-LOOK forward to hearing from you guys

I can't afford to be affordable anymore
Hi Pete,
Give these guys a call http://www.mountainlumber.com/ . They buy locally for resawing. I've been heating my shop with what they rejected from one house demo. Gave away what I could but the remainder was too small for me to store. And likely too small for your use. Chestnut timbers really aren't all that rare and if you can find some there's likely a portable saw mill in your area available to resaw. Or may already have sawn some and knows where it's available.
I used chestnut for some of my window sills. When I cut one timber open I disected a huge chunk of lead. No telling when that tree got shot.

Pete, these are good folks to deal with too:

They're in MA but will ship.
Keep in mind, ASH can look a lot like chestnut, if ya have no other options. No mention od wormy or not, so I'd say if not wormy, ash will cost at least half as much.
