Call for Dining Tables
We are looking for dining tables to be featured in a book we are writing for Taunton Press. “Dining Tables” is part of the “Master Craftsman” series and is scheduled for publication in 2002.
What’s involved: Some time in the next six months, you would make available for photographing a table that you’ve designed and built, provide us with a sketch or working drawing of it, and spend a couple of hours discussing with us how you built it. (If you haven’t yet built the table but want to build it on spec, we can discuss it on the basis of the drawing alone-but the table would still need to be finished and photographed in the next 6 to 8 months.) We would write a chapter in our book about it, including detailed drawings, process photos, and step-by-step instructions for building it. Kim Carleton Graves would mock the table up in his shop for the process shots. You would not have to build the table all over again. The target audience for the book is skilled non-professional woodworkers, but the book should also appeal to people who are interested in buying or commissioning dining tables.
What’s in it for you: Free publicity. The introduction to the chapter, on the page facing the shot of the finished table, will credit you as designer and builder and give your name and location. An appendix to the book will give more detailed contact information including address, phone number, website and e-mail address. We also hope to include information about you as a designer/builder and your business.
Of special interest: Pedestal tables; tables with turned legs; expansion tables.
For further information, please contact:
Kim Carleton Graves or Masha Zager
