Im looking for input and construction details for lowering a basment floor. There have been several brief threads on the subject but havent seen any good pictures or drawings.
Heres the plan/ history:
100+ yr old brick foundation and brick footers. 6.5 – 7′ headroom.. Major water problems (water is traveling down exterior and through the footer/ foundation joint.) Slab is cracked and needs replacment. No Sump pump and exterior drain tiles are clogged or collapsed. Concrete patio surrounds the majority of wet areas and will have to be removed/ regraded.
The plan is to bust out the slab, lower the floor elevation by aprox 12-14″ and install an interior drain and sump pump. I know that I need to pour an interior curb to stablize the foundation and this will have to bee done in aprox 4′ sections.
What Im looking for are details, pictures or descriptions of the curb system. Yes, I know it would be better to excavate the outside, but Im not planning on re-doinf the foundation and want to lower the floor so I have decided on an interior drain system.
Thanks for looks/ Input.

Any lowering of basement floors below the existing flootings requires a structural engineer. this will be money well spent and take any quess work out of the project.
I have lowered the basment floor in a few houses and if water is already present your task will be difficult.
