What do you use to make FERNCO fittings a little easier to slide on? Dish soap work?
(Probably says in the instructions but my eyes are too old for that)

Listeners write in about haunted pipes and building-science tomes, and they ask questions about roof venting and roof leaks.

K-Y
If you've got K-Y in your toolbox you might want to keep it buried under some stuff, wrap some tape around it... something... keep it out of sight.
Makes working with some less painfull...
Or you wouldn't want a line at your tool bucket waiting to borrow it...

Used to keep condoms in my plumbing kit.
On a drain line where it is not possible to dry it I would lash, python knot, the condom onto the end of a length of tubing. This I would insert into the pipe and blow up with lung power and plug the end with a golf tee. This allowed me to dry the area where I was working. Made gluing a lot easier and more of a sure thing.
I would thread the tubing into the pipe I was adding. After everything was set I removed the tee allowing the condom to deflate. The assembly was then pulled out allowing the water to flow normally.
I had tried a kids balloon but the condoms inflated easier and sealed tighter. The condoms raised a few eyebrows. I can't imagine what adding K-Y to the picture would cause people to think. I would have to keep both in my handy Crown Royal drawstring bag. Ummm ... maybe not.
Spit usually works for me.
