Hi guys I just wanted to give an update on my window problem51978.1that I had posted a while ago.
I had a siding guy come over and basically what we both came up with was a sort of head flashing, but with a different twist. The sider bent some coil stock like a helmit or cap for the top of the window. Before we attached it we put a glob of silicone on the ends and pressed it down.
We both pulled back the 3 1/2 ” lineals, pulled of the starter strip, renailed the nail fin, flashing taped the nail fin reattached the starter strip, taped the starter strip.
The top miters /The vertical snap in fins were raised higher than the horizontal fins. In other words when it rained the water would go left or right on the fin ,then down behind the window onto the 2×6 sill.It seemed to be the main problem
On the bottom miters we just siliconed them
The trick was to bend the coil stock PAST the 45 degree miters.Between the helmit, the silicone, and flashing tape no leaks I blasted the windows for about a 1/2 hour each, inside dry as a bone.
I would like to THANK EVERYONE who gave me support and advice on the problem there were a lot of you!!! If I could I would buy you all a beer!!
Now for the other good news. What would be a good way to show my appreciation to the siding guy who did the work.He was getting $50 an hour with a helper( the helper has a bad back and couldnt do any heavy stuff)so I took his place on the pump jacks ,which is fine with me)
He asked for $600 for some work done ,and I gave him $700 He is also fixing some other stuff that is wrong at the hourly rate.Todate he has made about $1,800 cash. He has about a days work left,But says what I’m paying him is fine.
I feel I owe him more as this was a BIG headache for me What would be a nice tip for him.Cash ,Dinner,a Hooker, gift certifacate for tools??
Thanks Greg

good referalls are one of the best ways to show your appreciation- tell your friends, co-workers, anyone what good work this guy does.
I'd check to see if the siding guy has a wife before I'd go ahead with the hooker, tho.
Shep :I gave his # to a guy at work whos parents are looking for a sider and I also brag about him to who ever will listen haha
Your probably right about the hooker tho I, not sure whos wife would slap me in the head first, mine or his.

If my wife was involved, I'd never see the slap coming
My wife is a red head ,Italian.and Scottish she don't let nothing slideTake out your false teeth mama ,I want to suck on your gums
whoa!!
I guess you don't get away with much around yer house
but back to the thread- some homemade goodies, a bottle of wine, something that says you put some thought into the gift- as you obviously are.
Even buying the guy lunch can say thanks
or, with the current gas prices, depending on what and how far he drives, a fill-up or two of petrol could be appreciated.
basically, you pretty much can't go wrong. A lot of the guys in the trades don't get many tips/presents, so anything will be appreciated.
I think I'll throw him some extra cash or I'll run the boat trip by him
Thanks Greg.Lead,Follow,or Get the Hell Out of the Way!
I've never been given a hooker before. It might just be the gift that keeps on giving, if you know what I mean.
It sounds like you have already given him a bonus. I've had bottles of booze, food, flowers and other such gifts. One customer took out an add in the local paper thanking me for a great job. A simple note of thank you means a great deal and it's all that I would want .
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Hookers you should see them walking around my town.my dog looks better. Most of them are heroin addicts I feel sad for them.
Back to the subject: This guy is a non stop hard worker and I feel I owe him one.I was considering taking him and his family out on my bass boat to a beach and doing some tubbing or water skiing with the boat for the day?
