make my own pebble dash stucco, help
Okay, anyone have some advice on pebble dash stucco? Anyone made it before, and if so I would like to hear your recommendations on how you made yours.
From what I have seen, you make the stucco using the sand, lime, and portland, mix up two or three coats, even up and then throw the rocks onto the aggregate?

pebble dash has become popular here in vancuover recently,
so i've had a chance to observe the application of it
1st scratch coat, just enough to cover most of the mesh
second coat, section a time, then while still soft throw the pebbles on with a small shovel like tool (6x6 3 sides with edges, short handle)
pebbles were either damp or
mixed in the mixer with a small amount of a cement mixture to make them sticky
they tell me it takes a bit of practice to get it even
I talked a stucco cont. into trrying it and we used a modified exposed aggrate approach. got the base coat on, applied a fairly thick second coat while the pebbles were in the mixer in concrete slurry, threw the pebbles on[ let my girls write their names w/agate] let it set a little ,sprayeds it with retarder, came back the next morn amd scrubbed off the portland with wateer and a stiff brush. worked great. still kicking around whether seal or not. jim
I thought you did the scratch coat, then lay mesh, then stucco over the mesh second and final coats, does that sound correct?
no mesh mechanically attached (ie nailed) scratch coat over the mesh...
