Has anyone used the Makita 24V circular saw??????????
It’s doesn’t have an ion battery. Maybe Makita wiil come out with an ion battery for it in the future.
I’m left handed and would like the blade on the right of the saw.
24V is close to 28V. Form what I’ve just barely heard the main advantge to ion batteries is that they hold a charge longer when not in use. So once you charge up a battery it can sit a long time and be ready for use.
Am I mistaken on this? Volts are volts, right? Is the amp hours a lot bigger with ion?
The blade on the right of the saw is a big thing for me. I’d buy the 28V milwaukee if the blade was on the right. But seeing the line is a big deal.

I haven't used that Makita, but here are some of the arguments for Li-Ion, aside from holding a charge when not in use.
Weight is another BIG plus with the Li-Ion, especially when you are getting over 18v. I've found higher amp hours on the Li-Ions as well. Also, instead of a gradual decline in power like with NiCd and NiMH, Li-Ions keep almost full power until the end...when you KNOW they are spent.
Ridgid makes a 24v Li-Ion saw with a blade right. Might give that a go.

Thanks J. D. Reynolds. I'll look at the Ridgid. Why not. I wonder who makes them?
Volts aren't just volts, because as you say, watt hours are different between the batteries. It's possible that makita's nimh 24v battery has as high an amp hour rating as a similar sized li-ion, but it's more likely that it will have less. In addition, you'll have a lot more weight to carry around, and the batteries will die in the typical nimh fashion- you'll gradually have less and less power. Li-ion batteries have full power until near the end of their charge.
Might be a good saw, but it won't be the same as a 28v li-ion. I wonder if makita will ever make li-ion batteries to fit their older tools?
