my 12″ makita scm just died on me. older model with the miterscale in the front. really liked that saw, motor went, 340 $ for repair which i dont want to spend. so the new rage is the milwaukee 6955-20 for 700$ ,did anybody switch from makita to milwaukee? how is the bevel tilt and the horizontal handle? if the makita had the miterscale in the front it would be a nobrainer for me. why the hell did the have to change that. need to buy a saw on saturday, which one? i use the saw mostly for finish work.

Take a look at Bosch.
-Very accurate
-All controls in front
-Quick release depth of cut stop, instant return.
-Miter 60° right 52° left.
-Detent lockout makes it easy to set 1/4° off a detent point.
-D-handle has right and left thumb safety locks - good for righties and lefties - and rotates from horizontal to vertical right or left or 45° either way.
-Available now with laser, if you want.
As I've mentioned on several other posts now, I bought my Milwaukee 12" SCMS for $499 at Home Depot. Several of the stores, but not all of them, have them for that price, so look around. The bevel and miter adjustments are real easy, and very precise.
