I did an attachment last night and noticed that we are now each allocated 2GB of space. I know that is a lot, but, in not too long a time that will fill up.
My personal space was around 30% full, so I deleted the larger attachments, some of which were attached to deleted posts.
In order to delete an atachment, I had to go to the post, edit the post, manage the attachments and delete the attachment.
Repeat for each attachment I wished to delete.
Repeat for each attachment I wished to delete.
Repeat for each attachment I wished to delete.
Repeat for each attachment I wished to delete.
Repeat for each attachment I wished to delete.
When a post is deleted by sysop or user the post is just removed from view in the thread.
Suggested: truly delete the post and any attachments from storage.
Rationale: By deleting any attachments you will remove some of the work and time users have to spend to keep their space available.
Suggested: Improve the attachment listing page to use columns
Filename Date Size Thread Title Edit Post#
Allow sorting on any column.
Allow viewing attachment by clicking on Filename.
Allow ‘Go to Edit Post’ by clicking on Edit Post.
Allow ‘View Post in Thread’ by clicking on Thread Title.
Allow delete attachment directly from attachment list page.
Rationale:
Sort by Filename; I can delete a specific attachment easily.
View attachment via Filename; I can delete any that are obviously not essential to a thread, for example humorous or sexy.
Sort by Date/Size; I can easily delete all old or really big attachments.
Thread Title column; I may need to know what the discussion is about.
Edit Post column; Maybe I just need to know what I said to determine relevancy.
At the very least, Please, Please, try to get delete attachment and view attachment from attachment list page as I can visually sort by size, and name, and, if memory is serving me, by date.
Thanks for considering this,
SamT
Edit: I put this in “Forum Suggestions”. How did it get here???
“You will do me the justice to remember that I have always strenuously supported the right of every man to his opinion, however different that opinion may be to mine. He who denies to another this right, makes a slave of himself to his present opinion, because he precludes himself the right of changing it.” Thomas Paine
