I’m re-doing my bathroom which was originally built in 1947 with a solid wetbed under ceramic tiles construction on the floor and all walls. Since the walls (which extend to the ceiling) and the floor are in perfect condition, can I tile over the existing tile with new marble squares? Would an epoxy thinset bond it to the tiles or would I have to use a 1/4 inch cement backerboard between the two surfaces? The reason I have to re-tile is that I need to replace a leaking lead line in one drain and so that section of tile has to come-up and new tile placed over the entire bathroom! I don’t want to rip out all the wetbed because it is in beautiful condition! Thanks!!!

Source control, ventilation, and filtration are the keys to healthy indoor air quality. Dehumidification is important too.
