First off and this is very important the claim period for Masonite Omniwood siding

is ending very soon January 6, 2009.

Why am I bringing this up, because I decided to move a window in my own house. Ok what does the one have to do with the other. I have 4×8 siding grooved t1-11 style. We decide to go with a smaller window in the kitchen and move it 4 inches to make room for new cabinets. I was able to move it the exact distance I needed by bringing it to the next stud to the right, things were going good. Till I needed siding all the old lumber yards in town said I don’t think that is made any more, I got reasons from not enough lumber close to plants to they went into the door business.
It turns out my siding is hardboard Masonite siding brought down by the industries biggest class action law suit. I did not think I ever had a siding problem till I started my research online. A year ago we thought we have a paint problem uneven fading. Made a claim to the paint company they agreed we never sent in the receipts to fulfill the claim. Now it turns out the paint is not the problem the siding is, it has wax bleed http://www.hadd.com/masonite/damage.shtml (scroll to the bottom)
a defect that was as part of the class action.
But and a big but the claim period is closed on this siding the hardboard style, the wafer or Omniwood style is still open till January 6, 2009. So I now can not get the same style I need to match the rest of the house. I have 3 styles of siding on my house 4×8 panel, 16″ cottage lap and 8 inch lap. I did not build it this way My wife brought the house before we were married. Am not about to explain where it all goes but it all is Masonite brand none of which I have found a match to.
Any suggestions on a match will be thanked. I would just go with any hardboard t 1-11 but this has a very distinct pattern the groove comes to a tent or peak in the center. The window is right on the deck next to the table and I have wax bleed the class action is closed. What’s a poor boy to do?

So how much are you needing?

Rez To do what I need to One sheet. One option I have is to pull it off one side that is less noticed and replace that with a new piece of different pattern. As you may know the problem of getting it off you wind up chipping. tearing cracking etc. I am not too worried on the wax bleed, just upset I missed the period of the small claims and may of gotten a check enough to cover the cost of new siding at least for the whole house. According to their guidelines since it is no longer made and the bleed is more then 25% of one side I would have the whole house as defective. I am 11 months late. on the hard board those with omni should hurry.
11 months.
sad but true.
Makes one want to get creative in approaching the manufacture as if maybe they could bend the rules.Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people. [Theodore Roosevelt]
I am going to call the claims office monday any way. The warranty is still on, International paper the parent company works on that. But it sounds like the suit was better in settlement.
Different failures are handled on a different time scale 5 to 25 years after 6 you loose 5% per year. I can not tell where wax bleed falls in 5 10 15 or 25 years. Wallyo
