I need to replace about half a square of masonite siding — the homeowner went wild with a pressure sprayer and cut large pieces out of it! I know this stuff has a bad reputation, but in this case the repair seems worth it. BUT — I can’t find a a product to use for the replacement. Is anyone making either Masonite or a facsimile? I’m looking for 12″ wide by about 1/4″ thick.
Thanks!

A limited variety of hardboard siding is still stocked by many lumberyards here. Most is mediocre quality, but good enough to give you another 10-15 years service if properly painted. The trick would be finding something that wide, and also matching the texture, if any.
Masonite itself no longer makes siding, AFAIK. The best available stuff is probably made by LP.
Fiber-cement siding is an adequate but not ideal substitute -- generally FC is thinner, and probably not available in the 12" width. Plus you have the texture match issue.
