Google for "materials price escalation clause"
You'll find it. The NAHB (National Assn of Home Builders) site is where I got mine.
Hey! I bid your job with 7/16 OSB at $4.79 a sheet. Can I please have my change order now?
I shipped something via UPS (through the UPSStore) and noticed a fuel surcharge on the statement.
thanks all,
The reason I lost track of it is I do a lot of bank finaced work.
They wont allow a clause like that in a contract, because it might push a person over thir limit and not allow them to finishs a house
However, need the clause for another job, and our next house I am going to put that back in and see if the bank kicks it out again
thanks again
Gene, there was an article re material price increases in JLC within the last 4 months (I think) maybe 6.
I think it had a sidebar discussing terms to be included in a contract to cover the bidders azz.

Talking with David Meiland on JLC this past June I mentioned I had found an article mentioning some NAHB document language for an ESCALATION CLAUSE FOR SPECIFIED BUILDING MATERIALS in the the NAHB publication Nations' Building New Online. And I also found a site that had a PDF with the actual language in it. . You might want to take a look at these two links
