I am looking for a small material lift for an artists studio. It must lift about 300 lbs 3′. It will have to be an exterior unit. It must be mechanical, she is getting to old to do it manually. Of course she is an artist so she cant thnk of why it should cost more than 100$ LOL. If anyone Knows of anything it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Rick:
what about a wheelchair lift for a van, there are a lot of used ones out there, modify it for your intended use.
LOL (labor of love) huh ?
*Depends on the design ... I've rented a manual Genie lift that can do 600 lbs ... also try http://www.randmh.com/ for a variety of "material handling" products such as lifts...$100? Try "ramp."
*I'm not even building a ramp for that amount of money.Rick, I don't know what you're trying to de exactly but would a loading dock do the job?
*The 100$ is a joke she will pay for what she needs. We cant get a truck to where the entrance will be so a loading ramp is out. A wheelchair ramp will work. Just trying to find something for less than 4500$. That seems to be the cheapest We can find. The lift has to carry bags of clay to a kiln room.Rick Tuk
*Rick, how about one of those hand crank lifts the hvac guys use. Maybe the pole would be too tall. the cranking is definitely pretty easy. Just a thought.
*The pallet truck I saw on the Rand site would lift 2200 pounds to something like 32", cost about $750. This is manually-pumped, but I think these things are pretty easy to operate (fat guy not included):View ImagePowered stuff, maybe a couple thousand? They have steel dockplates ("ramps"), that sort of thing too, and their real catalog is a lot longer than the few things on the web site.I'm not pushing the particular company -- I have a minor gripe with them at the moment, actually -- but there are plenty of solutions under 4.5k. Even not-so-starving artists shouldn't get ripped off.
*Rick: the wheelchair lift I had was surplus to the needs of a local hospital and had come out of one of their transport vans when it was traded in. I got it for free, they were tired of storing it.I asked around and found someone who needed one for his kid and they took it off my hands for the big zero. I didn't even get a tax deduction, but I didn't make any money that year so no big dealMy point is that these things have got to be lying around in garages all over the place. Most agencies are just like the hospital, they store the old one but buy a new one. CAll the maintenance dept. of some college or hospital, they can turn it into cash to help their operating budget.
*Thanks Andrew,This is what I was looking for. I couls always find a small hydraulic pump to attach to it. Dont know where I could find a good fat guy do ya? LOLRick Tuk
*Mike,Good ieda. I will check. With my luck they wont have one right now but they will start calling the day after I install one.Rick Tuk
*I'm available if it pays well enough.
*I'm looking at a hydraulic table cart, $250, in a recent harborfreight.com catalog. 1100lb cap, lifts from 10" to 33", table size 19x38. Sometimes they sell junk, but they have a good return policy, and I've bought plenty of good stuff from them
*Used to get an industrial supply catalogue about every week from, I think, Arrow something or other. Had lots of similar things but couldn't locate them in my brief search. How about a 500 lb capacity Light Lift Hand Trucks starting at $350 for a manual winch or $550 for hydraulicor a Lightweight Winch Stacker Lift for $618, lift up to 500lb to 54 inches, hand winch:http://www.theonlinecatalog.com/apluswhs/catalog.htmlhttp://www.warehouserack.com/electricpalletjack.htmhas something like what Andrew listed but no price is given. or if you really want to go full power, get a used electric pallet lift starting at around $2000http://www.cmec-hb.com/products/GM/pallet/pallet.html
*thats no fat guy!! thats George!! Shame on you Jim for letting that picture out!!
*Rick did a remodel some years back and got one of those stair elevators with the seat. Just another idea for You to ponder. I'm sure that they can be altered as to height and angle and She could ride it up and down to. Hey maybe the fat guy (girth challenged to be more inline with todays sensitivities) could use it, or has one and should get rid of it. Skip
