With doing some paint prep on my old house I’ve come to find some rotted framing in a corner of a shed dormer. I’ve removed the redwood siding ,torn out the bad & installed new studs. Now I have to mate new sheathing with the original 1 x6 T&G pine sheathing. If I cut back existing sheathing to sound wood @ a stud, what material do I replace with. Is the original 1 x6’s still readily available & used in my situation? Or is plywood the easier & better route? Tx to all in advance………Glenn

3/4 plywood will be easier and stronger. If you are replacing the whole side, 1/2" ply or OSB will be as strong or stronger than the 1x6.

Sounds like your main concern is matching the thickness, and
as Ron said, easy to do if you replace it all. Are you
planning to re-install redwood sidin
