The builder I’m trimming this 5000 sq.ft. house for had all the trim and ext. jamb stock delivered yesterday. To my surprise it’s all prepainted MDF. Couple of questions to those that have used this before, what’s the best glue to use, does it chip or mushroom around nails, should it be coped or because it’s not supposed to shrink do all the inside mitre’s get glue joints? How is it on handling bisquits and screws in the mitre joints on large casing? I know it creates fine dust when cut and ripped but how safe is this stuff to breathe? Any helpful info you can give would be appreciated. I’m also wondering if this stuff should be installed at the same cost as wood or is it more labor intensive. Thanks.

I use regular old wood glue, cuts and copes nice, biscuits work but screws specifically made for MDF work better, and if nails do mushroom you can sand them out with no problem. The dust is bothersome and I've heard mixed reports of how unhealthy it is. Ventilate well. The one thing I don't like about it is long lengths have to be handled with care cause they snap easily.
