I am searching for any information on the installation of metal roofing, more specifically tin ribed roofing.
First would be the framing underneath. The designer drew plans with plywood and felt paper for the roof deck but I have usually seen tin roofs installed on wood strapping. Which is better?
If the strapping is better what spacing should be used?
What screwing pattern is sufficient?
Does anyone know of a web site I could read up on some technics?
Thanks
Kev

Try the website of the supplier we use. http://www.muellerinc.com
They have a lot of information you can download. Should answer your questions. They have an excellent product.
I did my roof myself, eal easy. Only adviced I can give, tennis shoe, metal roof, chaulk lines, do not mix.
Here in Colorado you see a LOT of metal roofing going up. I'm not a roofer, and don't know all the why's of it, but everyone in our area seems to lay it over OSB and felt. That's for residential; the exception is for barns and outbuildings.
My first suggestion would be to go to the manufacturer's web site and look for installation directions. Most sites dealing with building materials seem to do a good job of laying out how they want their product installed. Saves them grief and warranty problems.
