Does anybody have any experience with snaplock or EZLoc metal roof panels? I’ve done standing seam metal roofs before with the old hand tools. Getting too old to do that anymore and don’t want owners to have to deal with painting every five years. We have companies in our area who do the prepainted steel roofing. I believe that and copper runs $900. to a $1000. a square in our area of Virginia. I’m looking at metal roof panels from Coastal Metal Service. The panels are prepainted and the company supplies all fascia and rake trim/dripedge and a vented ridge cap. Panels are a few inches longer than necessary and are cut at bottom and folded around drip edge at bottom as usual at the job site. There’s a male and female side to each panel. The one side gets a clip every two feet held down with screws and the next panel snaps over top. I guess my questions are; 1) Does it cost less than the $900. a square for the prepainted steel roofing and 2) does it really look like traditional standing seam? Thanks for any responses.

I just finished a pool cabana with a "Fabral" steel roof, very simular to what you describe.
I had done many copper standing seam roofs before , but never steel. With the steel you dont have the flexability I am used to, you have to be certain to order enough of the drip edges, hip and ridge closures, and other accessorys , that I am used to fabricating on the job. With copper I would lay out every thing on a flat panel, cut then bend. With the steel, cutting preformed panels neatly is more of a challange.
I think that it is a good product, the materials cost about 350/ square, and the labor would be less than copper ,once your used to working with it.

I just bought some 16 oz. copper from N.B. Handy in Roanoake VA, shipped out to California for under $2/pound. That would put the material cost, with seams and waste, somewhere in the $250 - 300 per square range. $900 - 1k sounds more like an installed price.

John -
Roanoke is practically next door to us....about an hour away.
If you don't mind me asking, is N.B. Handy a specialty supplier or did they have good pricing ?
How did you come across them on the opposite end of the country ?
Would like to keep them in mind just in case.
Thanks !
N.B. Handy had the best prices in the country, they were $1.47/lb when I was getting numbers like $1.98 to $2.25 elsewhere. Even with shipping, they came out better than the local suppliers. They're in the business of supplying metal for roofing, and all the other tooling and stuff you'd need. Give them a call at (540) 343-2467 and ask for Phill McDermott. He may even remember my order. Somebody here recommended them to me, I think it was probably Greencu.
