Any products available that remove rust effectively from hand tools? Here in Michigan, the climate can reek havoc with surface rust overnight. I’ve used steel wool and abrasive combination only to have rust return with equal zeal. Maybe I’m too fussy but I can’t stand to use a rusty hammer.

*Demolition work. It's billable and if you are using a smooth peen, it'll take care of that problem as well.
*DM, Try Navel Jelly. Works good on ferous metal rust. Just follow the directions. Once you have the rust removed, apply a coat of car wax. I did this in England and with regular reapplication my tools didn't rust. I grew up in Michigan and can honestly say that England has a much harsher climate on tools.
*Get your tools out of the unheated and drafty garage or shack and into the house. Or, heat your workshop. Create a comfortable environment and put a coat of non-silicone wax on them.
*wanna keep rust off your tools?USE 'EM.Otherwise, plain old paste wax will do the job fine.Michigan carp.
*I agree. Get off your butt and use them. They're not for show, but work. b G
