Does anybody have any experience with, or advice about setting a countertop micro oven in an open shelf in a wall cabinet? Not building it in tight, but with a reasonable air space all around.
I wouldn’t want to do the wrong thing, if you know what I mean.

Not a problem so long as there's half inch or an inch of air space. I've done it lots of times.
Check with the mfgr ... most offer a built-in kit, that is really nothing more than an oversized frame/vent ... you cut the hole in the cabinet about 2" wider and taller, and the decorative frame covers the gap. The one I recently installed also included some pre-bent sheet metal that directd the exhaust to the front.

If built in, must have its own circuit breaker 20 amp
