I plan on buying a pair of Proctor Wall Jacks. The question is will 16s lift gable end walls or should I buy the 20s. The gables are 16 ft ridge height.
Thanks Mike

it's been a while.... but with a 16' ridge ht... the proctors will wind up at the 1/3 points..IE: if your gable end is 30' one jack will be at 10' and one at 20'
so , depending on your pitch.... they'll be peeking over the gable at around 12' to 14' feet
seaport , do i know you ?
*Mike,No you dont know me but Ive been lurking around here awhile. I bought my Aluma Pole based on your discussion with some of the guys here, after all I do plan on being in business more than a year. These are gables with a sixteen foot ridge height and a twenty foot base line. The Proctor 16s are 825. and the 20s are 925. I dont want to try and save a few bucks if the twentys are what I really need. Thanks
*sea.... draw a couple of examples of gable ends..find the 1/3 points.. what is the ht. of the gable end at the 1/3 points ?20's have more versatility.. but they collapse to about 11' for storage.. 16''s collapse to about 9' for storage...we only owned 16's.. and built quite a few 28' & 32' wide 12/12 capes with them.. i don't ever remember wishing i had 20's.. i do wish i hadn't sold my 16's...but he needed them more than me...find out from Proctor how high a wall you can lift... in a straight lift.. the 16's can lift an 11'+ wall ... if you will be working with 12' walls a lot.. then you need the 20's..b BUT... once you get the wall or gable end beyond 50 deg.. the weight becomes minimal and you can mickey mouse the 16's..so... in the end you have to analyse what ht's you will be working with
*Thanks Mike I understand what you mean. I'll buy the 16s.
