i have a 12″ milwaukee mitersaw and the dust chute is somewhat oval. any idea how i can hook that up to my shopvac? thanks for any help.

Get another shopvac end, heat it up and force one end over the chute. The other end will stay round and fit the vac.
Didn't this question come up not too long ago? I think it may depend on the model of saw, but Milwaukee makes a vacuum adapter for some of their miter saws; try looking on the Milwaukee website. I recall the price was $15 or less.

Or if it's a permanent hookup, consider the foil tape.
