I'm trying to think when I would use it on both sides? or say - on the back side. I don't have eyes on the back of my head!
LOL

I think they intend it to allow you to turn the tape over so the back is up and run it out and lay it 'flat' on what ever you are measuring.
Think it would be useful for that?

somebodies just rying too sell a few more tapes..."The truth, when told does nothing but bolster a mans character."
well, of course................

I hope it's not one of those cheap chinese tools that the big companies (dewalt especially) puts their name on, and aren't worth a flip of the middle finger.
I have the same tape in blue by Kobalt, lifetime no hassle garanntee, from Lowes.
Magnetic tip is handy sometimes, but also catches a lot of crap on the end and needs to be rubbed clean for acurate measuring.
Pretty good extension.
I bought two 30'ers at about the same price.

Tell Piffin and me if you have found the markings on the reverse side useful?
I could see how it would be helpful in being able to run it out and lay it 'flat'.
Whatta you think?

I thought it would be convenient also, but in reality I have rarely used the backside.
I am a commercial carpenter and it has been useful at times when transfering numbers to upper floors with lasers. Line up the backside with the laser and mark the front back a foot or whatever.
I really bought the tapes because of the return policy, similar to the craftsmen tapes, but they are holding up well and I have not exchanged one yet. Mike

They looked like they would hold up when I saw them on a display. You can never have too many tapes, right?
Mabe it's a gimmick but if you say they hold up ........................

"You can never have too many tapes, right?"Well, I managed to break three 25 footers in one week last week. The inch fairy was on vacation

Isn't that the way it goes sometimes. Sometimes a tape lasts a year, then three in one week.
Last week I was laying out some walls one the fifth story, had 15' out locked on the ground and pushed the tape from the "dumb end" and the case slipped in a plumbing hole. Whoosh, it disappeared, three stories down. Still works fine. Mike
