I’m planning to put an oil tank in my basement to replace the outside tank. How far away does the tank need to be from the furnace/oil burner?

I do believe the rule of thumb is ten feet. However the local building codes will give you the right answer.
Just had a tank replaced when we did an addition, and had to move the location. The local city inspector wanted ten feet or a concrete block wall between them if they are any closer.
