For mitered trim around new construction windows would you use:
1. miratec 2. pvc like azek, 3. pvc wood flour like guardian trim
I’ve read miratec is put in a bucket of water and does not soak it up.
I’ve read azek expands, but the bonding adhesive may hold the miters together during this expansion. I’ve read pvc mixed with wood flour
expands less, costs less, but is prone to fading. What have you guys seen on jobsites on east coast?

As much as I hate working with it, I've had good success with Miratec.
I would much rather use wood.
No problems with mitered corners holding tight? What did you
hate about using it besides it not being wood?
Miters held up pretty well. But using it for corner boards seemed to be unpredictable because of the amount of flexibility in the widest dimension.I think the worst thing about it was getting the correct nail depth. I hate a proud nail, but you really can't sink them in that stuff either. Finally, the grain is ugly. And, yeah, the workability of it compared to wood. It felt like my saws were working harder to cut it.
#1. miratec
we've used Miratech for almost all our exterior trim
we used a competitor before that( since '95 ) but our lumber yard switched to Miratech
Miratech loves paint... is decay resistant... glues well, machines well.. comes in long lengths
it doesn't take much abuse... weed wackers play hell with it
but it's easy to patch and paint
in high abuse areas or some specialty work , we use Azek
for sills and kick boards we use Trex
Perfect timing!!! I am going to piggy back on your post if you don't mind.
I was going to post the same question tonite.
I need to find a material that would be used for battens over concrete panel siding.
Ease of painting and longevity of the paint is a major issue. Need the two materials to be as equal as possible in those regards.
