          Dear Mr. Starrett,

I actually may have a few of your pieces. I purchased one of those fabulous misc boxes at an auction, and there they were.

I'll look around and if I can lay my hands on them, you can have them back. I'll send you a pic.

          Sincerely,

          Porter Bee Cable

PS..... hope you will do the same for me.View Image

I bought a pair of little bitty spring dividers, maybe 2-1/2" legs, in a box of crap at a garage sale one time. I could tell they were quality as soon as I picked them up, even though they were completely covered with rust. Sure enough, when I sanded the rust off, there was the stamp, The L. S. Starrett Co. And I could tell from the uneven depth of the letters it was hand stamped, not machine stamped. (Well, that may not be true. I suppose a crafty company could set up to do uneven machine stamping.) I don't know exactly when they stopped putting The on the labels, but it's been a while.

            Shhhhhhh

Spere will be claiming them as his own.

ten years ago, Istarted collecting Zippo cigarette lighters.

Over the years, they have changed the stamp on the bottom of the lighter case and even incoperated a date stamping code. That is what all the slashes (//// \ ) and dots are all about. Then they changed to roman numeral system, now to '04. This has all been documented by the company.

Fair bet that out there somewhere are a group of Starrett tool collectors that will know exactly how old your (or Sphere's) dividers are.

I do love a good farm auction or garage sale. Sometimes you can really find some treasures.View Image

I don't want any of my tools back again. I have got some more just like them that I got from Miss Sears. they're more expensive than mine were so they must be better, Besides, anybody who would steal my Ryobii tools probably deserves them

You will see- air less sprayers, rolair compressors, generators, then to walk inside, makes me sick. Jim J

Bob DeWalt here, Man am I glad to hear I'm not the only guy getting picked on here.

I thought that after making my tools Yellow and Black they would be a little easier to find, but no, it seems everyone is painting there tools that color now.

I know I get a bad rap for not having the top of the line tools, but hey, I work in the rain most of the time.

So if you guys are really honest, You're probably sorry you took them in the first place, so will ya send them back now? I need to cut some wood.............
