I’d appreciate any info on EFFICIENT dust collection with a Mikita LS 1013. Is the dust port with a vac. hooked directly to it the best way to go?? Thanks, Tuna

Short of a full-up dedicated DC, the shop-vac approach is my preferred method. A vac such as a Fein with auto start is ideal, although not cheap. Alternatively, they make shrouds that mount behind the miter saw and the shroud is hooked to a DC or shop vac. HTH
Like ChuckKiser said - A shop vac is quick and easy. But it will probably only catch about half the stuff.
A dust collector and a hood might catch more. But I've never tried it, so I'm not sure.
The best dust collection method is probably just to set the thing up outside.

Hi Tuna,
Are you located in Ludlow Vt?
Thanks

Rousseau makes a hood,

but it is pretty expensive and it is bulky, which is the biggest downer. I vote for outside too. or make sure you are not sawing against something that readily takes a static charge.
Like a plastic whitewater kayak for instance, but what would I know.
Not that I have a kayak filled with sawdust in my garage.
