Anyone done it? Their cabs are standard kitchen size, but they don’t make bathroom ones (smaller). I’m thinking about ripping an edge of each carcass piece, redrilling the 32mm holes, and using biscuits for joinery. But I’m stuck on how to shorten the drawers. Might have to use different drawer hardware.
Thoughts appreciated.

Are you talking about making them shorter or shallower? I am not familiar with Ikea cabinets but I think they do make 30" wash basin height bathroom cabinets.
Yeah, you're right, but all of their bathroom millwork is freestanding, not built-in base cabinets. We've got an Ikea kitchen and would like the same look for the bathrooms, but the kitchen cabinets feel awkward in a bathroom setting. The sink is too high and counter too deep.
In our area, most bathroom cabs are about 22" deep and 32" high (without countertop).
Thanks.

I've used Ikea cabs and they had standard as well as 36" bathroom vanities. Is this a new thing? did they recently stop making bath vanities?" If I were a carpenter"
nevertheless, making a base cabinet shallower wouldn't be all that hard. Just remove the back, rip 2-3 inches off of the entire rear, and re-attach the back. You're right, you will most likely have to buy 20" drawer slides and modify the drawers to fit. but, after all, we are carpenters, aren't we?" If I were a carpenter"

I checked their site just to be sure, and all vanities are freestanding. Their kitchen base cabinets (called 'Akurum') all result in a 36" high and 24" deep counter surface.

Well, it's actually metalwork that needs to be done to modify the drawers... they've got metal sides and there's a special fitting that snaps the sides to the back. I don't think it would be that easy to modify. Durn..... :(
I might just make drawers and add their fronts.
Thanks for the thoughts anyway.

Standard North American kitchen base cabinet is 23 3/4" deep without the door face and 36" with counter. Bath vanity is 21 3/4" deep and 30" with counter. The 6" difference is the drawer on a kitchen base.
So to convert a base kitchen cabinet to a vanity all you have to do is to cut away 2" at the back and reattach the back as Mark said so you don't have to touch the hinge mounting at all. You are going to take away the drawer anyway so chop the cabinet 6", put back the reinforcement and you are in business. Actually you can keep the extra depth if you have room in the bathroom.
The other thing you can do is to buy the two doors and make your own cabinet if you want to match the doors.
Going for a slightly more modern look? I've heard of folks getting the shorter kitchen cabinets (the ones you'd us above the fridge) and then floating them (mounding on the wall) to whatever height you want in the bath.
