I will be building a home for a costomer who wants wide pine flooring throughout the house. The heating system will be radiant forced hot water, which will be placed beneath the subfloor between the joists. The flooring will be nailed with cut nails through the subfloor and into the joists, so the tubing will not be punctured. Any coments on what the moisture content of the wood should be so shrinkage is minimized? Is pine stable enough to withstand the temperature extremes with radiant heat below it?
