I will have the soffits vents put in and will check the bath exhaust. I already have about 16″ of insulation but I notice that the snow on my roof always melts long before any of the other homes in the neiborhood. Now that I know how to fix the problem (add soffits vents) do I need to scrub off the mold or do you think it will go away on its own?

kari.. the soffit vents are not going to solve the problem... you have some huge leaks thru the ceiling if you have 16 inces of insulation...
you have to stop those air leaks....
the soffit vents are for the roof .... you have heat loss you have to stop..
