I just cut down some maple for posts I’m going to use on some new construction. I removed the bark immediately(like peeling a banana). The next day mold appeared on the skinned trees. I’m wondering if there is a way to get rid of the mold without altering the appearance of the wood. I did a test with a bleach/water mix but I’m not sure this is the best way. I want to kill the mold so it doesn’t return but I don’t want to take the chance of bleach spots appearing after it is sanded and installed. I’m also concerned about any damage the bleach may do to the maple. Any ideas?

You have to realize that the layer immediately bemeathe the bark is where a lot of the sugars and water travel in the tree during the growing season. harvesting for something like this is better done in winter and in a waning moon.
it could be bacterialal stains instead of mold you are seeing too. I assume you are using these posts aux natural without milling. Go to the groce5ry store and get yourself soem boraxo laundry detergent to scrub them. I don';t know if the chorine will especially huir the appearance, but the borates are easier on it, will kill mold and germs and have a mild bleaching action, and it is reasdily available.

Like Piffen said..you still need to get the Cambrium layer off..that is the sap wood part that is still sopping..
Cutting this time of season is the worst time..so be it.
TSP will also help..the salts will help extract some excess sap..or a good concentration of ground up water softner salt slathered on will also draw out some ( and the atmosphere too tho') while making it unhealthy for mold or mildew to propegate
