Hello all, Its been a while since I posted. I installed Semco awning windows in my house this past winter and, it being winter I did not finish the sash, it was left raw wood. The other day I opened the windows for the first time this spring to find mold growing along the bottom of the sash at the glass. This was on three sets of windows in two different rooms on each end of the house. I know what to use to finish these windows my concern is if it will happen again. So I guess my question is, did the mold grow because the windows were left unfinished? Mold is not an issue in my house.(until now)
Thanks in advance for your reply

I have vinyl windows with mold on them, so...I wonder if it's the unfinished wood. Probably doesn't help, but I think there may be enough dust and stuiff in the condensation that pools there to feed the mold. I have rubbed the mold off pretty successfully with a paper towel dampened with bleach or with alcohol--either seem to work pretty well.
Yeah I got the mold off fairly easily with diluted bleach, left the wood a bit discolored but I am painting them anyway. Do you think the paint will discourage mold growth?Just another homeowner...
there are additives for paint that will discourage mold growth... i know add'n red pepper to paint keeps cobwebs away....
