I have an open bag of brick mortar and I have to set 3 sheets of cement backer board on a OSB sub floor, can I use this brick motar. Or do I have to use a thinset mortar, the same as setting the tiles.
I don’t mean to be cheap, but I have almost a full bag going to waste!!!
It’s a Quikrete type N mortar.

I'd use thinset. It's specified by the manufacturers because it's formulated to retain moisture long enough to cure properly when applied in thin layers. (Hence the name thinset.)
I was thinking that would be the right thing to do!!
Glad you did hollor at me for being cheap, I'll spent the $15.00 and get the right stuff.
