It looks like our family will be moving into a larger home. We will be gaining three ‘new’ family members through marriage.
We have been looking at homes that fit our bedroom needs and our budget – unfortunately, it seems that double-wides or modulars are all we can afford. These seem to have specific re-modeling problems. What jumps out at me is the ‘thin-ness’ of everything.
Is a double-wide strong enough to take extensive remodeling?

Congratulations on your new family!
Fine Trailer Remodelling? I think you might be better off to look towards the modular homes, which are real homes built to be moved, then to go with a trailer.
Is it not possible to add on to the home you have to make room for the expansion? Or, just show your family lots and lots of episodes of the Brady Bunch where they fit all 6 kids into 2 bedrooms (presumably using the money saved on more bedrooms to fund employment of Alice, a good trade in my book).
LOL!
I often think that my name IS Alice - as in the Brady Bunch.
Alas - the place we are in now is one that we rent - and there is not going to be any room for expansion. I am thinking modular myself - but budget may not allow for it. We shall have to see.
I suppose that there are always tents!
