I have had mud put down over radiant heat tubing in preparation for a porcelain mosaic tile floor. That was about a month ago. Plastic sheeting was put over it, and it cured slowly but the mud is basically now dry- especially around the edges. The tile contractor is too busy to return for another 2 or 3 weeks. Is waiting so long going to cause any problems with the adhesion of the finished floor?

The longer you wait the better.
*Carole, is that you? How's your project going? Anyway, Mike is correct. But, you do need to prevent contamination of the mud through spills and stains. I bring this up because it has been my experience that when people have an "open" floor, they inevitably spill something--like oil base paint--that will break bond.

Yes Rich, it's me again... The project is going OK but slowly. City water is installed, but now we seem to be having a hard time getting the contractors to come back to move things along, and materials (tile especially) are taking forever to get here. I guess the building boom is keeping everyone verrrry busy, and some manufacturers take vacations in July and August. Now the carpenter says the shop will be free again at the middle of this month to work on the kitchen in our rental cottage, and we hope we'll see the tile man by August... we'll see.
In the meantime, we're keeping the mud covered. I'm glad the wait won't hurt it. Thanks for your help.
