Multiple roofs – interconnection leaking
We recently renovated an older home that had leakage problems where roofs and exterior walls joined. The grouping consisted of two 4 in 12 roofed buildings with a tower separating them. Crickets were built to force the rain & snow away from the tower to the edges. All roofs re-insulated, vented, flashed (with special materials, including B-paper) then topped with a standing-seam metal roof. Where the cricket(s) and the main roof(s) meet, the snow moves to and curls up against the short portions of the walls, creating a huge snowpile that collects and does not slide off this valley, even though this is a 4 in 12 pitch, too. These areas have leaked into the house. Badly. What to do?
