I have a new(3 months old)delta lav. faucet in our guest bath that started running on the hot water side all by itself. The handle was off when we discovered it running, when I turn the handle on and off the flow seems to slow down at the mid point. The faucet has seperate handles for hot and cold.It was purchased through a plumbing supply by my plumber and installed by him.I have turned the supply off under the sink and will call the plumber tommorrow.
Any ideas for the failure? We did have visitors stay the past few days(with kids)and the bath was used frequently but not seemingly abused.
Also, the plumber roughed in the whole house(rermodel)on a contract, then I hired him to install fixtures(and supply them) by the hour.He gave me the fixtures at his cost.Is the problem with the faucet something he should respond to?What should I expect from him?Any feedback is apreciated, thanks,Mike

If it is a two handle Delta it is probably a Delta "Delex" series.
These two handle styles have a simple cartridge that sits on top of a cup shaped neopreme gasket & spring for the water flow control.
Posibilities: A...bad cup gasket or cartridge.....materials warranty only.
B...piece of sand/debris from the water system cut the cup gasket.
C...same as "B", but debris stuck in the valve assembly.
D...something else beyond my scope of experience.
If you have the desire to learn about this faucet, get out a screwdriver and wrench.
This faucet is easy to work on and parts are readily available, and best of all your water shutoff is functional.
Have fun....piece of cake...................Iron Helix
Thanks for the info,I guess I'll get to it today.Hopefully a simple fix,Mike
When inserting the spring and rubber seat, insert the seat on the end of a #2 phillips screwdriver, followed by the spring. Insert the end of the phillips into the hole in the faucet body and push the seat and spring down into the hole. Hold the rubber seat in place with one finger and pull out the screwdriver. Makes installation pretty smooth.
I never met a tool I didn't like!
Done, just took it apart and put it back together, works fine,Mike
