In 1998 This Old House had a show which presented several methods of exterior paint removal-one of which was a rotary tool with carbide blades(not disc),one of which removed the coating from the underside of the clapboard. Though I recently saw a re-run, I cannot recall the manufacturer/model.I find myself in immediate(of course) need of this tool No one in my locale is able to help(don’t ask). Anyone?

Sounds like the Metabo mentioned elsewhere on this board. I recently bought one, but am not yet ready to offer an opinion on it. It IS a hungry SOB.
*Or the Paint Shaver ... see here for more information.Jeff
*Definitely Paint Shaver - $600 - only thing I've found that is better than hand scraping.
*Jeff/Bill: right on the money, the paintshaver.I thought it was a Makita tool by the casing color...gracias.
