N8sb or N88wwB bostitch framer?
Which do your prefer, The N80sb ($289.00 local) which I have used and liked versus the N88wwB ($249.00 big box)? The N88wwB hits with more force according to Bostitch web site. Any negative feedback on either one? It appears the N88WWb may be a little better. Found them both on tool crib, about the same price, so now it is just deciding if one is better or not.

My old bostitch just lost the valve at the trigger, a buddy loaned me his N8sb..it's ok, just like my old one but a bit lighter, the nose seeme better for toenailing, and overall it's good gun.
Sorry but I have not used the 88wwb.

Bostitch makes it hard to compare the two. The best I have come up with is that the N88wwB hits with more force so working with Lv beams and other hard material, it seats the nails better. It may be a newer model which could mean better or worse not sure but guess I will go with the N88 because I can get it now for less money at big box.
Thanks
Ps Do you make spheres or is that just your name?
it's a logo thing pyramid/sphere.but I have made spheres that's for sure.Â

Hey catfish25-
We have between 10 and 12 framing guns in the truck. Two of those guns are NW88RH's. The Bostich guns have been run 9 hours a day, five days a week for 17 months- except for the time they were being repaired.
Here is the story:
We like the guns because they are light, powerful, and work well. They toenail easily and the adapter makes them great for hangers. (Not an option for your nail application) Consequently, these guns leave the truck first. They do our shear and as long as we are not out of full round head nails, they are among the guns used for framing. As I mentioned above, they also fire a ton of hanger nails each week.
The light weight, power and ease of use means that we run more nails through these guns than any of the others- even more than my favorite framing-only guns. Consequently, they get a lot of wear.
The bad news is that after 12 months BOTH guns needed factory attention. The good news is that Bostich stood behind them and replaced the guns free of charge.
The lightweight may have been a trade-off in terms of durability. I mean, after a year, these guns were shelled out. But to be fair, because of their adaptability, they ran more nails than any of our other guns. And, to their credit, Bostich stood behind they product- a fact that makes me inclined to continue buying the gun after a long allegiance to Senco.
In conclusion, I think the 88 is the new market standard - The do seem to wear out fast- but for $250 and the range of work they can do, who cares? After 12 months of running all out every day, they really do not owe us anything.

Mike's reply is accurate.
I got one of the first 88's off the production line 3 1/2 years ago. Great tool. See our framing nailer review if FHB from 2 1/2 years ago.
The ww model has a different collation than the rh that Mike's using. I like the tool he refers to - it's code is N88 RH MCN The MCN stands for metal connector nailer. I have two myself. It's like buying two nailers in one. See review in FHB last year on MCN nailers) No other framing nailer can nail metal connectors one minute and regular framing the next.
I expect to see another generation of framing nailers in a year or so.

Mike & Mike,
Does the n88 rh use the same nails as the older n80 sb and the n88ww? I read on the forum that some one had problems with the nails being different. The Rh had to use the nails with the plastic and no one stocked them. Is that true?

catfish.. we also have 2 of the 88RH.. .. you're right .. they require special nails.. but a lot of mfr's nails will work.. we use mostly generic.. sometimes hitachi..
occasionaly bostich....
and we swap the noses out a lot.. we get bostich hanger nails only for teh metal connector work
watch your lumber yard .. bostich will probably schedule a "bostich day"... tune up your guns... lot's of special dealsMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
Thanks for all the info. I am starting to put it all together. I have always just used the guns and nails loaned to me with out having to decide what is what. My(aching) elbow is looking forward to me using this new gun.
