Bostitch RH88. Hooked it up this morning to air and wham! It fired just as the air was connected. It hasn’t been used in a few weeks, been sitting in the deep freeze of the utility truck. While I was looking at the gun, my son pointed to a 3″ nail stuck in the clapboard siding. Afterwards, the gun felt funny: lots of kickback. I had to push down hard to keep it from kicking back. Kicking back left the nail only half driven.
Anyone have any idea what happened? It’s set up so that the nose must be depressed and trigger cycled each time; no bump fire.
I bought the nailer because of the metal connector capabilities, but haven’t been real happy with it; it will only take a single stick of nails at a time, more than one and it will jam at the transition between sticks. Granted, I’ve been using generic nails, but still…
May be time for another round head nailer. Max is a little pricey for something that won’t be used but every other week or so, any other recommendations?
Thanks.

do you think all the rubber parts may be frozen solid?
try taking it inside over night maybe that will git er done
it was cold here too this morning 48
I suspect you're right, the cold had something to do with it. Usually I warm up the guns prior to use, but this morning I didn't have the opportunity. May have to take it apart, but I have a job coming up where I'm gonna need this baby, and I don't want to be sitting on my hands waiting for parts.
It's been below freezing here most of December, up until Christmas day, when it warmed up to the lower forties.

I have the same gun that has been acting strange lately. Mine is only about 6 mos. old and has not seen very heavy use and has been always stored indoors. I also have found the metal connector attachment quite handy.
It started to cycle very slowly, usually a few drops of oil and it would work okay for awhile, then start doing it again. Anyway, last week went to help a friend frame an inside wall and it would only fire once and then stick until i pulled the hose off. The nose/ trigger seemed to be the culprit so rather than take it apart, I went into the dealer where i got it and he says, thats funny this is the second one this week that has had problems. He said Stanley Bostitch warrantees for one year and he ship it to them and should be back good (or better I hope) then new. I haven't heard from him since it got sent last week.
M2C is to take it in and get it looked at. Seems something is not working on this model.
I have that same gun. Mine's always worked OK, but I must say that it is anything but smooth. When you pull the trigger you know you did. I've used some Hatachis that seemed to drive nails as good or better with 1/2 the shock to the operator. This may not be related...
