Howdy Dave, here I be. Here goes. I’m getting back into building decks. Can’t and don’t want to pound nails all day like back when I was younger, dumber and studlier. Major materials probably RW, Western Red or Alaskan Yellow Cedar. Port Orford would be sweet if clients want and can afford it. Not sure about Ipe. PTDF framing. Have PC finish, brad nailers etc, and nice old Hitachi framer but am looking for experiences and recommendations on new gun with good depth control, light weight, good selection of fasteners, (esp SS or color coated galvanised that will hold up and not stain over time – used to use the Maze spiral sinkers), reasonable cost etc. It would be primarily used for nailing down in the field. Have never used Paslode, see advantage of not dragging my hose on the ground (those little slivers hurt!), what are the cons. This cuddly carpalled curmudgeon would appreciate all and any feedback.
Thanks y’all. Patrick Monk. “Monkworks” (when he has to or feels like it)

Well, Pat, you aren't here yet.
You posted this in the Fests folder instead of genreal discussion or const techniques.. I'll see if i can alert sysop to move it where it is more likely to be seen and meantime this will bump th epost up.

Thanks, having problems with my account status, can't seem to get into FH, thought I had it straightened out over a month ago.patrickmonk.rn.sf.
Good luck - we're all having minor problems with the site lately.

Well, I'm certainly not the most experienced deckbuilder .......
I use nails into the hangers. I even nail joists into the cross braces. But nail deckboards? Not usually/
I know it costs a lot more, but I use Stainless screws. Pre-drill, dip into the wax block, impact driver the screws in.
I would use SS nails anyway, so what the hay!
