For concealed nailing, which gun-driven nail (size, spec, and source) works best for you?
For the necessary face nailing that will be exposed (top courses, etc.) which gun-driven nail? Which hand-driven nail?
I’ve got a siding and trim sub starting soon to hang Hardie, and while excellently qualfied to do the wood work (most is wood), he has never installed FC lap siding before. He has familiarized himself with the instructions from Hardie, and will have dust masks, blades, shears, carbide scoring knives, etc.

for blind nailing we special order Maize hot dipped galv. 1 3/4" roofing nails in our roofing coil guns
for face nailing we use a 2" ring shanked SS nail in our Bostich siding guns

Mike,
Why not use the siding nails for blind nailing also?? Ive used both the roofing gun and siding gun ( choice more dictated by whats readily available), but would prefer the siding gun.

the hot dipped galv has the longevity i want to match the FC longevity
the bigger head has more clamping area than a siding nail.. and the blind nailing wants a good clamp actionMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
