We will use #1 Perfections WRC (18″ length shingles) as siding on our new home, over AirSeal housewrap on top of 7/16″ OSB sheathing over studs on 16″ centers. Exposure will be 7″. Shingles are being factory coated with one coat of semi-solid stain, and we will finish again in field with a final coat of solid color stain. Should we nail ’em up with exposed nails? Or should we nail on a line 7 1/2″ up from the butts, to place all the fasteners under the shingles above? Should we use stainless, or is galv OK?
