Got a new Bostitch full-round-head framing nailer for Xmas. Went looking for nails the other day, and even though HD sells that nailer (actually, similar – mine has the metal connector nose option), they don’t have any nails for it! What a joke. Every box of Bostitch nails in the store was wire-collated, and a couple small boxes of generic nails would fit my gun but weren’t right size or type. Yet, it’s the only Bostitch framing nailer they sell in the local store. Wazzup widdat?
Is there any advantage to ordering nails online through a place like Amazon, or does the shipping kill the deal (if there is one). I really need to have nails for this critter by next week, for nailing floor joists to my sill plate. 3″ hot-galvanized, for ACQ PT. Any thoughts?

My condolenses, bought the same nail gun, get the standard fasteners at Lowes. albeit generics, but the only double dipped I've seen for the ACQ are in a different collation angle so I went out, bit the bullet, and got another Bostitch. Seems the manufacturers have us by the short and curly's.
Let's not confuse the issue with facts!
jon.. it must be a regional thing.. we get our bostich nails atrt our lumber yard
i would think Maize nails would have them too
the ones with the ACQ label on the box are the ones we buy for our connecotrs
for framing we use both bostich & generics
I run hitachi stick nails through that gun without any problems. Bummer for you, cuz that's a very common nail that that gun uses.... look around a bit more in your area... try a real lumberyard. That gun uses the same nail as the Hitachi NR83A... most common framing nailer in the world. If you got framers in your area, there's bound to be a crew full of hitachi's out there and they're getting their nails from somebody.
I have that gun and am able to get most nails I want other than the metal connector nails at HD or Lowes. I go to a contractor sales store to get the double dipped gal ones, but they have those at the big boxes too - sometimes. I've had much less luck finding the metal connector nails though.
I have found that mail order nails are generally too expensive once you pay the shipping.
BTW - excluding the metal connector nails, you don't need the Bostitch nails - you can use generics, Senco, Hitachi, Porter Cable to name a few, just so they are plastic colliated. Generally, I don't buy the Bostitch nails because they are more expensive and I see no advantage to them.
Grip-Rite GR034G are 3.25"x.131 16D shorts and galv. coated, GR301 are 3"x.120 10D sinkers, not galv. Each come in a box of 4k, run about $30 & are always available at the local HD (at least my local HD). The metal connector nails made by Bostich can be ordered from the Pro desk at HD, but bring some bucks 'cause they aren't cheap.
For ACQ PT, I use 3.25x.120 SS framing nails. When WW Wharehouse went out of business, they had boxes of these on sale, and I scarfed them up knowing I would use them all. You can buy them from Maze. They also are not cheap, but quality rarely is.
Edit: Age is a tough mistress, I came here to edit something, then forgot what I was going to change.
