I have moved my gas dryer from my basement to my new upstairs laundry room. Since moving the dryer, the clothes have had a light petroleum like odor (similar to diesel oil).
I installed black iron pipes with pipe dope and teflon tape. Some of the pipes had threads cut (at HD) and were coated with oil. In general I did not clean the oil from the pipe (threads or inside). Could this be the cause of the odor and if so should the pipes have been cleaned before installation?. If so what can I do now?. Will it eventually go away?
Any help or comments would be appreciated.
