when I asked him about the nails sticking thru my finished ply he told me that was how it had to be.
homeowner tells me he will pay me to skin over blowouts. I show up a couple days later to find this
*and this
*and this door tiled & grouted shut
*What a wanker !!How long did this guy take to do the whole job ? 45 minutes ? What kind of 'tile guy' doesn't have enough common sense to at least line up and clean the nose tile ? And to tile that door shut like that was absolutely... asinine, fatuous, foolish, silly, simple, brute, brutish, dummel, lumbering, oafish, slow, slow-witted, sluggish, half-assed, crass, backward, half-witted, idiotic, imbecilicHe is... dead above (or between) the ears, dead from the neck up, having a block for a head, having cotton between the ears, muscle-bound between the ears'Stupid' was just too simple a word for this kind of doltishness. The nail pops are out of sight. I don't know if I would have bothered about them if I were the homeowner, and that was all that was wrong. But when the whole friggen job is this bad, the nail pops become yet another brick in the pile. I hope the homeowner hasn't paid this buffoon.
*here it is after I redid the front edge & cleaned up as best as I could without a complete tearout & redo
*and...
*and...
*here is the soffit frame I was working on when the coppers thought I was a bad guy
*here is some cool hardware- when you tap the door down it lowers itself slowly
*look how out of level the lid was - almost humorous
*did they pay him yet? hopefully they'll backcharge him back to the stone age!!!
*they had given him his last draw, but when I arrived & hit the roof the homeowner put a stop payment on his check, called the bozo & left a message saying he would talk to him when he got back into town. which will be tomorrow, 8-14. I hope I can be there!!!
*So Greg, what happened when Mister Wizard returned? Curious, Joe H
*Joe- The homeowner looked so upset when I approached the subject that I backed off- bottom line is that the owners are happy with the final product.and with me!!!a side note- the owners brother is a major supplier in the picture framing industry & used his chemical engineering background to develop a wood glue that would not come apart- awesome stuff- I'll post more about it in "tools" folder...
*Tell me more abpout the slowclosing lids. What brand etc.
*Piffin- the "soft down stay" NSD-35R/L is made by Sugatsune- (800)562-LAMP. It is a special order item thru EB Bradley (800) 533-3030Sugatsune doesn't sell direct, but should be able to get a local supplier for you if Bradley isn't in your area. Another model # SUSDS-C301N works very well also.
*Thanks, I've got a Sugatsune Catalouge for special hinges but hadn't seen these. If you see my "testing don't mind me" in the gallery you'll see why this request. The owner didn't want doors over the appliances in a similar application but I anticipate that after they live there a little that'll be on the list.
