I’m in the process of starting my own business doing installations of mouldings, trims etc.(finish work).
I live in the Cayman Islands and 99.9% of the homes are made of concrete.
Most of the mouldings used here are plastic or poly. But eventually I would like to get into making wood mouldings.
So I basically need to know what is the best and most efficient way of installation on concrete walls?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

...........correct me if I'm wrong......
....but I always thought you have to plan ahead for the trim and bury nailers or steel stud or some fasteing system in the the concrete or make keyways for nailer insert later.....
fastening in green concrete is possible (you can nail it)
but trying to fasten into cured concrete is too hit-or -miss for good trim work......(from my limited attempts over the last thirty years)....
what do the trades do in the Caymans ?????
*Greg C.Well for crown you can do what we do sometimes in commercial work. We screw a wood backing strip to the metal studs and then mount the crown to that. In your case you will have to tapcon the backing to the concrete wall.Base is another subject. Glue? Velcro? (just kidding about the velcro) You may have to tapcon that on too. For paneling, we always cover the walls with 5/8" plywood. You can attach that to concrete walls with a varity of fasterners. From there it's easy to attach wood trim and nail it anywhere on the wall you want.Just a few ideas.....but like Mike says, ask the people who are doing it now. They should have lots of experience doing what you want to do. Which raises another question. Is there room enough in the trades down there for a new guy? Just a thought. Sound like a small market which may already be full of local tradesmen.Good luck,Ed. Williams
