I am currently building an edition to my house that will serve as a great room. It is 32 feet long and 22 feet wide. The roof has a 7/12 pitch with 2×8 24 inches on center. My questions is which is the best way to insulate this room to avoid any condensation to the ceilings. The room is totally complete on the outside. I have vinyl soffit at the bottom and ridge vent at the top. The interior side of the roof will eventually be covered with some type of knotty pine siding or some other wood finish to give somewhat of a rustic look. I was thinking of some kind of insulation baffle top to bottom in each space with R-19 6 1/2 x 24 kraft faced insulation. I know there should be more R value in the ceiling but somewhat limited with the 2×8 rafters. I would appreciate anyone advice on this issue. Thank You, Steve Wheeler.
